6th Annual Ultra Chic Prom Boutique Enjoys Record-Breaking Success
2,300 Dresses Collected: $14,700 Raised for Lydia House
The Ultra Chic Prom Boutique enjoyed record-breaking success during its sixth anniversary. Thanks to the support of our loyal customers, dedicated employees and generous community, we were able to raise $14,700 for the Lydia House in just six hours at the event held last Saturday. Donations from dress and raffle ticket sales from this year's event bring Max I. Walker's total donation to more than $55,800.
More than 2,300 dresses were on display at the Ramada Plaza Hotel, and hundreds of shoppers were lined up before the doors officially opened at 9 a.m. All of the dresses were collected at the 24 Max I. Walker locations throughout the metro area. Max I. Walker and our employees donated the cleaning, pressing and preparation of all the gowns, making them look as good as new to display at the Ultra Chic Prom Boutique. Shoppers included high school students, college students and brides-to-be who all found their perfect dress at the Boutique!
In addition to all of our vendors, we had a few more very special guests join us for all of the prom fun:
- Welcome & Announcements: Ricky Woods from STAR 104.5
- Fashion Show Emcee: Mandy Scott from Channel 94.1
- Local Celebrity Models: Michelle Molison, Deanne Brink and Jennifer Griswold from KMTV; Kayla Thomas from Morning Blend; and Hannah Pickett from KETV.
- Dance Performances by Nebraska Dance
And the good news doesn't end there as all of the remaining dresses were donated to the Open Door Mission's Timberlake Outreach Center and Women's Career Workshop. The Timberlake Outreach Center serves more than 7,500 homeless and working poor individuals and families each month to help supplement their income, preventing homelessness.
After the women and teenagers from the Lydia House review the dresses as part of their career workshop, the remainder will be available to the community at the Timberlake Outreach Center. For more information on the good works of the Open Door Mission, please visit www.opendoormission.org
